Journal

Okay, am I the only one who has not been very good about documenting all of this "mucking around"? I mean, I have kept some notes but they are not the greatest. Michele, I suppose this means I need to be more vigilant about this?

Uh-huh. 'Fraid so... (smile). Might be easier to sit down every few days and do a whole bunch of post-facto notes, recalling what you did. Then each time you do a reading, head back to your notes and slot in interpretive stuff.

ya afraid to say...NO your not the only one. I have found it hard to get/find a routine for the journal. I work endlessly on the movie, but afraid that the journal will not reflect that! UGH!

Larry I agree with you. I have been trying to be good with jotting down things that I do, as I go along, but it is difficutlt to keep up. When I'm sitting down in front of the computer for hours trying to figure something out, its hard for me to remember to go back and jot it down. Guess we are in the same boat! :o)

here's what i did...that same day we set up the digitalartifacts blog, i set up my own blog: doubleentryjournal.blogspot.com

(sorry, too personal to share at the moment!)

anyway, the novelty of blogging is enough incentive for me to add to it every couple days or so.

i'm finding that keeping track of the day-to-day mucking about is much easier to keep up with than the "reflective" piece. Then, i'm not that much of a introspective touchy-feely type person. that said, i know i've done much more mucking about than is actually documented in my blog. (like those seredipitous inspirations that pop into your head at odd moments--are we really supposed to write all of those down???)

so, my advice: make it fun somehow (new notebook, new laptop, fancy gel pens, digital voice recorder--think transmedia!...), or give yourself a reward for each journal contribution (can you say M&Ms?) silly, i know, but sometimes it works.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who hasn't been up to date with my journal! In the beginning I was doing great staying on top of things and recording my computer experiences, however that went downhill. Like you said Theresa, after sitting at the computer for hours and getting frustrated, I tend to forget to write down all of my experiences or sometimes I avoid it because I am exhausted. I keep telling myself I will jot it down the later or tomorrow and I failed to stay on top of it. I need to get my act in gear!!!
