Alice.Org

I downloaded Alice just to muck around. It teaches you to create an evironment using animation. I went through a few of the tutorials and decided to make a little 3D story of my own. I was able to put a little something together but I felt it was very time consuming to start from scratch. My story is very amature but I'm happy I explored it. However, I am having difficulty posting it to the blog. Any suggestions? Has anyone else explored this program? If so, What did you think of it?

i just checked out the alice.org webpage, but still not exactly sure what you get when you do the download. is it like a virtual puppet stage (so to speak) where you drag characters and objects onto it, then tell the characters what to do? if so, then sign me up!

as for uploading your clip, i gave up directly loading into the blog because it didn't work for me the 6 to 8 times i tried it. so i opened a youtube account for uploading my stuff, then it seems to work to embed the youtube into the blog. all i can suggest is to make sure you export from the original software (the exporting seems to finalize-render- the edited project), and that you upload in the correct format.

do you thinks it's worth me downloading alice to play around with?

Honestly, I was not crazy about it. The little video I put together took me over an hour to do and it is only a few seconds long. Every single action you want to take place has to be dragged and placed into the world. If you want a person to jump up and down, you have to drag in up, than down, than up again. I just felt it was very time consuming just to create such a little scene. It is not difficult to drag in characters but it can get difficult to create actions.

Thanks for the advice. I think I am going to create a youtube account because it seems alot of people have been successful with it. I just wish I could borrow an older child to help me with all these programs. My preschoolers are not much help to me. LOL.
