Alice.Org trial
Okay...I hope this works...I finally opened up a YouTube account because I could not upload this project through the blogger...I created a little animated scene...It took me over an hour to create this and its only a few seconds...It is very time consuming because you have to create every function of the objects in the world template you choose...I would not consider doing my final transmedia project on this program but it was interesting to explore and it could be great for students to use in school for projects...Explore it yourself and see what you think...

Okay...Well I guess it didn't work...I can open it in Alice but I am having trouble uploading it to YouTube...I guess I have to muck around some more...Here we go again.........
Okay...I think this is my problem...I have an invalid file format that was ending in html and now it is a2w...which means it should be converted...If I download keepvid.com will this help to convert it???? I cannot seem to convert it any other way...
Okay--let me think about this for a bit. Uhm, did the Alice.org site give you a URL for where your animation is stored? If it did, then you might just need to post this URL to the blog. If you did download/save a movie to your harddrive from Alice, it shouldn't end in html, you see (only webpages have that kind of file extension).
Oh, hang on--you troubleshot that already. Okay, it looks like "*.a2w" is a file-type specific to the 3D modelling of Alice (see ttp://www.alice.org/faq2.htm.

Can I save my world as a MOV/AVI?
This feature is not currently available in Alice v2.0. You can save your world as a video file, but it requires the use of a 3rd party capture program. Please see this thread from the Alice forums for more details. http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=17
Bugger. Looks like you need separate software to record your action in order to produce an vi or mov file--and Fraps won't do it. One of the recommended screen-recording programs is Camtasia. quite a few of my friends use this and seem to really like it, and it comes with a 30-day free trial... Camtasia
But if all this seems like a lot of hassle to you, then we'll all understand for sure! I recommended Alice.org because I know it's being used in New Jersey schools, but perhaps teachers aren't converting the final results to movies....

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback. I think I will eventually explore Camtasia. Since it is only a 30 second video, I will first work on my final project.
The community forum was also helpful and offered some different insight into using a third party to capture my project.
I am also glad to see that I did everything I could to try and save my project as a movie in the Alice program because I was getting so frustrated.
