SL Movie 1 (after a week of trying)

Okay, so this week for me experimenting in SL movie making has been as frustrating for me as for everyone else. I could not seem to record anything from SL on my laptop but I am sure there is a good explanation. Today I finally downloaded SL to my PC and was able to record, though I couldn't record with SL I had to use Fraps. I don't know why. I spent the last 2 hours trying to post what I recorded here and to youtube but it wouldn't upload my video. I decided to edit my video on Windows movie maker and got it to post both here and at youtube. It is very rudimentary and I have a lot to learn, like getting rid of User Interface and the Fraps counter, but it's a start, right? Now if I could only figure out the storyline I want to use for my movie.

good job larry, (and nice moves!) we couldn't get the capturing to work in SL, either, so we went to FRAPS, too. you managed to get it upload into the blog, but we never could figure that part out...

we're now working on our second movie (daughter #2) and i, and it's going a lot smoother than the first. one thing we did in this second video is to crop the video clip on all sides with our movie editor software so that the user interface is no longer visible to the viewer. sure, the picture is now a little smaller, but it's a much cleaner look!

if you ever figure out how to get rid of the avitar's name floating over my/her head, let me know!!!

Yes--fab moves, Larry! this is really excellent--especially given you had to coordinate a whole bunch of different software functions. You might find some story ideas on the Second Life channel of Machinima.com

To get rid of the user interface....hit control alt F1......Then when you go into Fullscreen nothing will show but the actual part you want showing in the movie......Though the FRAPS counter still show...have yet to figure that Out :)
