I'm a fan of fanfiction!!

After reading Chapter 4: New Literacies as Remix, the section on Fanfiction really captured my attention. As I read through the examples provided in the text and learned about the different types of fanfiction, I was interested in visiting the site, fanfiction.net, just out of curiosity. Well, let me tell you, what I thought was going to be a few minutes of exploration turned into two hours!!! When I first entered the site, I was able to select from a few categories, movies, tv shows, comics, games, etc. I decided to view the tv show category and was I was searching for a tv show that I am a loyal fan of considering it is important to know all the characters and the story line to fully understand the fanfic writing. As I scrolled through the GIGANTIC list, I was soooo excited to find "Days of Our Lives." I am a huge fan (which is sad, considering what this show has come to) but I do watch it almost every day. Well I decided to read the most recent story. It consisted of eight chapters and I truly enjoyed it! It was amazing how they took the story line and created a story of their own using dialogue that matched the characters perfectly. After I read that one, I had to read several more and ended up with a headache from the computer, but it was worth it! =) Honestly, if you have a favorite tv show or movie I do recommend that you visit this site on your free time!

i've been meaning to post a link to some of d2's fan fiction, she was a late-comer to harry potter, but has since become totally absorbed...she's away camping tonight, but i'll get her to post a piece tomorrow.

Kelly--how fantastic that you found some really compelling fanfic to read! I continue to be surprised by how many people--of all ages--read and write fanfic (and writing your fanfic might be a nice transmedia project idea, too).

Kelly...don't be ashamed of your soap opera addiction! I took your tip and visited fanfiction.net (I too am a soap junkie) and couldn't believe all that I found! Some of these people should be writing for the shows!!! Their stuff is so much better!!

Hey Kelly I read your post and visited the site myself. I am a grey's anatomy fan, and I could not believe all of the posts that were on there. I spent the past hour just going through and reading all of the entries. I am a fan too! Thanks for opening me up to it, it is so interesting!
